방콕에서는 그래도 다섯 손가락 안에 들어가는 나름 명문 대학인 방콕 유니버시티 근처의 로컬 식당에서 벌어진 일입니다.

7명의 여학생들이 한 친구의 졸업을 축하하며 술에 취해 떠들석하게 놀고 있었는데, 다른 테이블에 있던 역시 술에 취한 3명의 여학생이 다가와 조용히 하라고 시비를 걸었다고 합니다.

말 다툼이 점점 크게 번지자 시비를 걸어 온 3명 중 한명이 나가서 친구들 10명을 불러와 7:12의 일대 혼란이 벌어졌고, 그 와중에 7명 중 한명이 상대편의 누군가로부터 가슴을 수차례 칼로 찔려 쓰러졌습니다.

직후 12명 무리들은 달아났고, 6명의 친구들은 쓰러진 친구를 병원으로 옮겼으나 결국 숨졌다고 하네요. 숨진 사람은 방콕 유니버시티 3학년 학생이라고 합니다.

태국 사람들은 전통적으로 평정을 잃는 것을 수치스럽게 여기는 편이라 공개적으로 서로 크게 다투거나 하는 일이 상대적으로 적은 편이라고 알고 있는데, 술에 취하니 명문대 여학생들 사이에서도 칼부림이 일어나기도 하는군요.

사진만 봐서는 그냥 평범한 방콕의 여대생들 같아 보이는데...


A group of intoxicated young females were involved in a drunken brawl in Bangkok on Friday. The fight, between two groups of university students, ended in the vicious stabbing death of a 21-year-old female.

Bangkok, the 23^rd of July 2010: At approximately 3:00am on Friday, Lieutenant Colonel Kamonrat Panoi (Klongloung Police Investigator) was notified of a fatal stabbing in front of the “Diamond Place” apartments in Soi Rungsit Pirom near Bangkok University. At team of officers was immediately dispatched to the incident to investigate.

At the scene, a small local restaurant, officers explained that there was significant evidence of a large fight/brawl outside the premises. The ground was heavily stained in blood and the restaurant furniture had been displaced around the area. Police were informed by witnesses that the young girl stabbed in the incident had been transported to the hospital, but had subsequently died of her injuries.

Waiting at the scene, Miss Dew [21] (alias) a friend of the deceased, explained to police that she and six friends, including the victim, had been celebrating the graduation of another friend overseas when the attack happened. Miss Dew informed that her and her friends had been celebrating rather loudly when another group of three women objected to the noise, telling them impolitely to quiet down.

Allegedly, the altercation happened when one of the three angered women left, returning with up to 10 other women who immediately approached and argued with Miss Dew and her friends. The argument quickly descended into a brawl at which point her friend, now known to be Miss Tattaya Meejitpaisal [21], was stabbed several times in the chest by an unknown woman. Following the stabbing, all of the attackers fled the scene, leaving Miss Dew and her friends to assist Miss Tattaya, taking her to the hospital where she later died.

Uninvolved witnesses at the scene explained that the intoxication of both groups of women was the reason for the argument. Miss Meejitpaisal was a third year student at the local Bangkok University and originally coming from Petchaburi. She was stabbed three times in the chest during the altercation.

In his brief, Colonel Permkieat Suriyawong (Klongloung Police Superintendent) explained that the intoxication of all involved was the main reason behind the incident. Further noting, that initial police investigations had uncovered a number of bloodstains at the nearby GB Place where police with commence the search for the offender.
