BANGKOK: -- Floods continued in the provinces of Chanthaburi, Trat and Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday, affecting hundreds of residents.
Downtown Chanthaburi was submerged in up to a metre of water and authorities warned it would rise further. Schools in flood-hit areas in the province have been ordered shut until Friday as a precaution.
Chatchai Phromlert, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), reported yesterday that more than 1,000 families in Chanthaburi's Muang, Makham, Khlung, Tha Mai, Laem Sing and Kaeng Hang Maew districts were affected and that 200 residents had been evacuated.
In Trat's Muang, Khao Saming and Laem Nhop districts up to 92 homes were hit by as much as 50cm-deep floods, while in Nakhon Ratchasima's Muang and Bua Yai districts 465 households had been affected, he said. Water in Nakhon Ratchasima has subsided and the roads are passable, Chatchai added. DDPM officials in the region have been dispatched with tools to speedily drain the floodwater, help the affected residents and assess the damage for compensation, he added.
In Ranong, days of heavy rain caused a metre-deep, 50-metre-long crack on the surface of the still under-construction four-lane Phetch Kasem Highway early yesterday.

찬타부리 시내지역은 아직도 1미터에 가까운 물이 차있어, 영향을 받은 학교는 금요일까지 휴교령이 내려졌습니다. 1000여 세대, 200여주택이 있는 찬타부리시내, 마캄, 크렁, 타마이, 렘싱, 켕항메우 지역의 대피가 완료 되었습니다.
트랏및 기타지역도 약 50센티미터의 물에 잠겨 있고, 영향을 받은 주민은 대피했습니다.
어제, 라농지역에 큰비가 내려 1미터정도 잠기고, 건설중인 팻치카샘 고속도로가 50미터정도의 큰 균열이 발생했습니다.
Chiang Mai Boy Killed By Electrified 'Anti-Dog Fence'
CHIANG MAI : -- Small electrified screen intended to keep dogs away at a residence in Chiang Mai province is said to have been the cause of death for a 11-year old who accidentally touched it when he was playing hide-and-seek with his friends.
Locals in Rakaeng community, Mueang District, were alerted of the incident when friends of the boy, identified as Chatrawarin Chimwaree, could not locate him during their game of hide-and-seek.
The children then searched the area all over the village until they found the boy lying face down on the ground at the residence of Mr. Udom Thairat with pile of vomit next to him. 20x50 cm wire screen covered the corner of the house where the boy was found. The screen was connected to the electricity plug on the wall.
Informed by the children, the boy′s father rushed to help him, and he too was injured by the electrified wire screen. He immediately called the police. When police finally arrived, Chatrawarin was already on his way to hospital with his mother and other relatives.
The doctors failed to revive him, and he was declared dead at hospital.
The owner of the house, Mr. Udom, told the police that he attached the electrical wire screen at the corner of his house to prevent dogs from urinating at his wall.
Police arrested Mr. Udom for further investigation, and charged him for reckless behaviour resulting in a death.

치앙마이에서 개를 쫓기위해 설치한 전기 스크린에 소년이 감전사 했습니다.
친구들과 숨박꼭질놀이 하던 11살 소년이 개를 쫓기위해 설치한 작은 전기 스크린에 감전사 하는 사고가 발생했습니다.
치앙마이 무앙(시내)지역 라켕마을의 Chatrawarin Chimwaree 소년이 숨박꼭질놀이를 하던 도중 발견됮 않아, 온마을 찾아다니던중 Udom Thairat 집 옆에 토한체 쓰러진 소년을 발견했습니다.
옆에는 20X50센티의 철로만든 전기망이 코너에 설치되어 있었고, 전기가 연결된 상태였습니다.
소년을 구하기위해 아버지가 달려 들었지만, 아버지 역시 전기의해 감전되 다쳤습니다. 소년은 결국 이송도중 사망하였습니다.
전기스크린을 설치한 집주인인 우돔씨는 경찰에 개가 자기집 모퉁에 오줌을 싸는 행위를 방지하기 위해 전기 스크린을 설치했다고 진술 했습니다.
경찰은 우돔씨를 과실치사 혐의로 입건해 조사중입니다.
