안녕하세요. 싸르니아입니다. 봄여행 비행기표 발권했습니다. 항공료는 여전히 비쌉니다. 10 월 여행 때도 팬데믹 전에 비해 30 퍼센트 정도 비싼 것 같다고 느꼈는데 봄 항공권은 그것보다도 더 비싸졌습니다. 

3, 4 월 기준 에어캐나다의 경우 평일 출발 평일 도착은 스탠다드가 1,300 불 선이고 플렉스가 1,400 불 선에 가격이 형성되어 있습니다. 항공사 웹사이트보다는 여행사에서 발권하는 게 100 불 정도 저렴합니다. 스탠다드와 플렉스의 가격 차이가 100 불 밖에 안 된다는 것도 특이한 현상입니다. 

대한항공도 가격은 에어캐나다와 비슷합니다. 대한항공이 며칠 전 올린 제 글을 보고 크게 반성한 나머지 가격을 내린 건 아닙니다. 요즘 간이 배밖으로 나온 에어캐나다가 가격을 올렸기 때문에 항공료가 서로 비슷비슷해진 것 같습니다. 

국내선으로 환승해야하고 checked baggage 하나만 가지고 다니는 저같은 여행자는 두 항공사의 가격이 비슷하거나 오히려 대한항공이 저렴하더라도 여전히 에어캐나다를 선택합니다. 지난 번에도 언급했다시피 에어캐나다가 독점적으로 제공하는 ITD 서비스의 가치가 뛰어나기 때문에 그렇습니다.   

밴쿠버나 토론토가 최종 목적지이고 checked baggage가 두 개 라면 대한항공을 이용하는 것이 유리할 수 있습니다. 대한항공은 아직 checked baggage 23 kg 두 개 까지 허용하지만 에어캐나다는 지난 8 월부터 1 개 만 허용하기 때문에 그렇습니다. 

에어캐나다 Latitude 등급 항공권 또는 프리미엄 이코노미 클래스는 여전히 23 kg 위탁수하물 두 개까지 허용하고 비즈니스 클래스는 32 kg 두 개 까지 허용합니다.    

요즘에도 23 kg 짜리 짐 두 개 가지고 여행하는 분들이 많은지는 잘 모르겠습니다. 제 생각에는 이민가는 분이나 유학생, 전쟁통에 피난떠나는 난민이 아니라면 그렇게 많은 짐을 들고 비행기를 타는 승객들은 별로 없을 것 같기는 한데, 제 혼자 생각일 수도 있습니다. 

그건 그렇고. 본론입니다. 

출입국절차가 간소해지고 있습니다. 

Low risk travelers, 선의의 여행자들은 더 이상 국경세관에 줄서서 오래 기다리거나 입국심사관이 형식적으로 던지는 쓰잘떼기없는 질문에 하나마나한 대답을 하면서 시간을 낭비하지 않아도 됩니다. 

여행자가 모바일앱을 통해 사전에 세관정보를 입력한 후 국경에 도착하면 키오스크에서 종이떼기를 하나 출력받아 출구에 우두커니 서 있는 세관원에게 휙 건네주고 나가는 시스템을 캐나다는 이미 오래전부터 시행하고 있었습니다.  

미국도 Mobile Passport Control 이라는 비슷한 시스템을 도입해 시행하고 있는 중 입니다. 지금은 자국(미국)시민과 영주권자, 캐나다시민 중 단기여행자(B1/B2)들을  대상으로 시행하고 있지만 앞으로 다른 나라 입국자들까지 그 대상을 확대해 나갈 가능성이 있습니다.

한국도 바뀐 부분이 있습니다. 아시다시피 한국에는 캐나다나 미국에는 없는 출국심사라는 프로세스가 있는데(한국 뿐 아니라 아시아권 대부분의 나라들이 출국심사제도가 있습니다), 과거에는 자동출국키오스크를 한국여권 소지자들만 이용할 수 있었습니다. 이제는 외국여권소지자들도 자동출국 키오스크에서 여권을 스캔만 하고 나갈 수 있습니다.   

시큐리티 검색에서 가장 귀찮았던 부분, 즉 100ml 액체 X 10 in 투명백 규정과 노트북 꺼내기 규정도 곧 없어질 것 같습니다. 영국과 아일랜드를 시작으로 차세대 스캐너를 도입하는 나라의 공항들부터, 지난 2005 년 부터 시행해 오던 이 귀찮은 시큐리티 제도가 역사속으로 사라지게 됩니다.

I got an air ticket. The airfare is still expensive. My last trip was in October, I noticed the ticket price was about 30 percent more expensive than before the pandemic, but coming spring tickets became more expensive than that.

As of March and April, Air Canada has a price of $1,300 for weekday departures for Standard and $1,400 for Flex. It's about $100 cheaper to issue a ticket at a travel agency than on the Air Canada website or other online sire such as Expedia.ca. Surprisingly, the price difference between standard and flex is only $100.

The price of a Korean Air ticket is similar to that of Air Canada. I don't think Korean Air has lowered the ticket price because I gave them shit few days ago. It seems to be similar price to each other because Air Canada raised the price.

A traveler like me who has to transfer to a domestic flight and carries only one checked baggage still chooses Air Canada even if the prices of the two airlines are similar or even Korean Air becomes cheaper. Like I mentioned last time, this is because the ITD service exclusively provided by Air Canada is of great value.

If your final destination is Vancouver or Toronto, and or you have two checked bags, it may be advantageous to use Korean Air in terms of cost. Korean Air still allows up to two checked bags of 23kg, but unfortunately Air Canada allows only one since last August.

If you have an Air Canada Latitude class ticket or premium economy class ticket, you will still be allowed up to two 23 kg checked baggage and two 32 kg business class.

Are there still many people who travel with two 23 kg bags? I don't think there are many passengers flying with so much stuff unless they're immigrants, international students, or refugees fleeing the war.

By the way, the border crossing process is getting simpler.

Low risk travelers no longer have to wait long in line at border control and waste time answering the bullshit questions that immigration officers formally ask.

Canada has already implemented a system in which travelers enter customs information in advance through a mobile app and receive a piece of paper from a kiosk when they arrive at the border and submit it to customs officials.

The U.S. is also implementing a similar system called Mobile Passport Control. Currently, it is implemented for travelers of their own citizens (US), permanent residents, and Canadian citizens, but there is a possibility that it will expand to travelers from other countries in the future.(The MPC mobile app is available to U.S. citizens and Canadian B1/B2 citizens visitors. MPC is currently available at the following 38 sites, including 31 U.S. International Airports, 3 Canadian Preclearance locations, and 4 seaports of entry.)

The departure procedures have changed in Korea, too. As you know, in Korea, there is a process called departure screening (not only in Korea but also in most Asian countries). In the past, the automatic departure kiosks were only available to Korean passport holders. Now, foreign passport holders can also only scan their passports at the departure kiosk and leave.

The most annoying aspects of the security clearance process - the 100ml liquid X 10 in 1 liter sized transparent plastic bag rule and the laptop rule - are likely to be eliminated soon. From airports in countries that introduce next-generation scanners, including Britain and Ireland, this stupid Stone Age security screening system, which has been in place since 2005, will disappear in the mists of history.
