초특급 호텔을 500밧에..??
어제 날짜 방콕 포스트 기사입니다.
아직 공식적으로 결정된 것은 아니지만.....
초특급 호텔 페닌슐라를 포함한 태국의 호텔들이 방값을 500밧으로 내려서 한달동안 행사를 한다는 군요....
아무리 사스로 불황이라 하지만..... 이게 어찌된일인지??
대충 기사를 보면
태국 전국 10개의 호텔(끄라비의 아오낭 빌라, 푸껫의 로얄 파라다이스 등 포함)이 여기에 참여하게 될 것이며 4월15일부터 5월 15일까지 한달간 행사를 한다네요.
단,
태국 여행사협회(ATTA)소속 여행사를 통해야 하며 호텔당 하루 20개의 방에 한한다고 합니다.
그리고 타이항공에서 5200밧에 왕복항공권+호텔 2박 포함 패키지 상품을 판다는 내용이 기사 끝에 첨부되어있네요....

Fancy a night in a five-star hotel but daunted by prices starting in the thousands of baht? Think again.
Several top-ranked hotels are gearing up to offer special discounts with river-view rooms available for as little as 500 baht a night in a one-month promotion aimed at boosting local tourism.
Juthamas Siriwan, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), said the five-star Peninsula Bangkok was among the hotels approached, but a Peninsula spokesperson said nothing was official yet.
The hotel offer is one of several new initiatives to spur an industry reeling from a drop in foreign visitors due to the war in Iraq and the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars) health scare.
The ``Unseen Price'' hotel campaign will run from April 15 to May 15 and is aimed exclusively at Thais.
Mrs Juthamas said the campaign aimed to create excitement about domestic tourism and to help reassure hotel staff who are worried about their jobs.
Ten hotels are participating including the Imperial Phu Kaew in Phetchabun, Ao Nang Villa in Krabi, Lai Thong Hotel in Ubon Ratchathani, Lampang River Lodge and Royal Paradise in Phuket.
Reservations must be made through the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), with each hotel offering about 20 rooms per night at the special rate.
However, when contacted yesterday, a Peninsula Bangkok executive said details had not been finalised.
``We are willing to participate in the TAT campaign but at this time, we are not featuring any such promotion,'' said a hotel spokesperson, adding that the hotel's normal rack rate was US$260 (11,180 baht) a night.
Mrs Juthamas said she had spoken to the owners of the Peninsula and would ask other leading hotels such as the Grand Hyatt Erawan to participate.
She said hotels would rather fill a room even if the price was very low, since they could earn additional revenue from other services such as restaurants.
ATTA president Suparerk Surangkura said he was confident that the campaign would generate at least 5,000 room nights.
While reassurances from Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra about the low risk of Sars in Thailand had resulted in a pickup in visitors, Mr Suparerk said the Chinese government had prohibited its people from visiting Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia as the three countries were not welcoming Chinese tourists.
Mrs Juthamas said that she would discuss the matter with Chinese tourism authorities as soon as possible.
While the TAT has revised its foreign arrivals target for the year down by 2.6% to 10.56 million, revenue is expected to rise by 10 billion baht to 333 billion, as spending per head was up from 3,700 to 4,000 baht, said Mrs Juthamas.
Meanwhile, Thai Airways International has introduced 15 ``Unseen Thailand'' packages at just 5,200 baht. Each package includes return economy airfare, two nights' accommodation including breakfast and airport transfers. The offers will run from April 18 to Sept 30.
Destinations include Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Surat Thani, Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Hat Yai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen, Nong Khai, Udon Thani and Ubon Ratchathani.
